Giving Back, Looking Forward. Be a Part of One Day in South Carolina.
Giving Tuesday is a global giving movement built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses, and communities in all 50 states and several countries around the world. Millions of people like you come together to support and champion the causes that matter most to you, within your community. Here at Teach For America-South Carolina, we know the urgency of our work and take responsibility for the collective power behind our mission: One day, all students in this nation will have the opportunity to attain a high quality education.
Over the past weeks, the Teach For America alumni community from across the state have come together to unlock a 2:1 donation match and gift of over $10,000 for South Carolina. Led by the TFA-SC Alumni Leadership team, a community campaign launched to host events in Columbia, Charleston, Florence, and Greenville. The campaign provided opportunities for alumni like 1992 corps member, Edward Chambers, to reflect on why he gives. Still a classroom teacher in Columbia after twenty-five years, he shared sincere remarks:
“There were many people out there who were just like me… looking for the opportunity to change the lives of other people; looking for the opportunity to change their own lives. Teach For America gives that opportunity.”
The power of the TFA-South Carolina network is fully realized when leaders from cities and communities across the state contribute to ensuring every student in SC has access to equal education opportunities. Following in the footsteps and incredible work of our Teach For America alumni, let’s continue the momentum towards One Day.
On this Giving Tuesday, and throughout the holiday season, you have the opportunity to change the lives of students in your community by supporting Teach For America’s work in South Carolina. Donate today.
